You Know Bubbachuck

We all know Bubba. He was the first overall pick of the 1996 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers.
Standing at 6’0 tall on his tippy toes, straight out of Georgetown University in Washington D.C.
A two sport athlete, Iverson was about to quit basketball and focus on strictly football and the NFL draft after college. This was before the bowling alley incident.
After that night everything changed as Iverson was charged with three felony counts of maiming by mob, a felony punishable to up to 20 years in prison.
He was sentenced to 15 years in prison, but after four months at Newport News City Farm correctional facility, Iverson was pardoned by Governor Doug Wilder and was released from custody.
Bad News to Hampton

Allen Iverson was from Hampton, Virginia and played for the Bethal Bruins in high school. “The Answer” won Division 5 AAA Virginia State championships in both football and basketball.
Iverson was recruited highly in both sports heading to college before the incident. After all he was the top ranked football player and basketball player in the country in 1993.
On the gridiron “Bubba” was a quarterback, free safety and punt returner. He would’ve back then likely played safety in college and been a high NFL draft pick.
Michael Vick was five years younger than Iverson and grew up 8 miles from Allen in Newport News, Virginia.
When Vick was a rookie, NFL Films asked him who he patterned his game after and Vick told them it was Allen Iverson.
The NFL was plan A for Allen Iverson.
The League

After Allen Iverson ripped up the Big East for two seasons for Georgetown coach John Thompson, he was drafted by the Sixers first overall.
Before his first NBA game, the Sixers television announcer Marc Zumoff, right before tip-off referred to Iverson as “Raw Lightning”.
He proved this true by winning the 1997 NBA Rookie-of-the-Year award. Two years later his team started to win with Larry Brown at the helm, coaching the 76ers.
“The Answer” would go on to win the 2001 NBA MVP award and lead the Sixers to the NBA Finals. Where they fell to the eventual three-peat Los Angeles Lakers team of Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal.
A.I’s game one heroics were the only loss suffered by the 2001 Lakers in the NBA Playoffs. He dropped 48 points in game 1 of those Finals.
“Bubbachuck” was scoring at such a clip that the 4-time NBA scoring champion was on top of the All-Time NBA points-per-game list for years before his decline began.
